Like every other 7 year old girl in 1997, I had a huge obsession with the Spice Girls. In particular, Baby Spice. I wanted to be just like her- I begged my mom to let me buy size 5 women’s platform shoes (“I’ll grow into them! They’re not THAT big!”), sucked on the official Spice Girls Chupa Chups lollipops (Baby’s brand of choice for her ever-present lollipop) and made my mom style my hair into little pigtails just the way she wore hers. I LOVED pigtails.
As I got older though, I decided they were too juvenile. Wanting to look like a more mature adult (as most teens do), I said goodbye to my favorite childhood hairstyle. I doubted I’d ever wear pigtails in my adult life. But then Prada’s Spring 2010 show happened. I saw the pigtails and I swooned…I immediately went and styled my hair into pigtails once again. I had finally realized my love for grown-up pigtails.
Brigitte Bardot and Anna Karina are the perfect inspiration for how to rock sexy, playful pigtails.
The best way to rock cute, flirty pigtails when you’re over the age of 12 is to keep it cheeky- wear them with a playful ensemble that’s a balance between sexy and cute.

Make your list and check it twice- twelve of the nicest, naughty girls we know want to add some attitude to your agenda! Come celebrate the sexy release of the “Bitchy 2011″ Pin-Up Calendar tomorrow, Wednesday, December 15, from 7-9 at Le Grand Strip, 197 Grand Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. You must RSVP to cc.dejoie@yahoo.com (or you’ll be punished!)
If you can’t make it, too bad!
Let’s make it a Bitchy 2011,
The girls of Le Grand Strip xx
Its sugar and spice and everything nice here at Le Grand Strip! We’re halfway through the summer and its been sweet as ever. This time of year is surely one to celebrate- go to the beach, see a concert, wave your lighter in the air! Even if you can’t take a vacation, a city like New York is an easy place to make one for yourself. You never know what may happen- life is full of sweet surprises. Heat waves aside, we’ve been keeping it cool and enjoying the sunshine over on Grand Street. Enjoy the lollipops!
Michelle, LGS’s PR Supreme
We had a Russian moment with Artist Shimon Okstein!
Theme? 1920′s smoking ladies….very Le Grand Strip.
It is already soooo last week, but, there it is- finally- a preview of the looks and attitude of our LGS girls, who rallied like so many pretty snow bunnies to Le Grand Strip boutique for a little (I mean we were a hundred) in-house vintage fashion runway.
Staged on Valentines- and concurrently on the first day of the Chinese new TIGER year- our fashion affair turned instantly into a LOVE thing because of the happy/friendly girls network that enabled the show to BECOME one; the LGS crew (Masako, CC, Katie and Britani) joined forces with the COMMUNE hair salon who supplied the hair styles (they deserve a trophy for elaborately planting a crow in Bettina’s hair) and the disco makeup…it’s an all Japanese crew who won everyone respect for their efficiency, generosity and artistic abilities! Gee, they made the models sooo glamorous and fun, everyone was taking pictures of themselves and falling in love with their reflection!!!! as soon as we figure the glitch in our runway movie, we’ll post it…there were 24 looks for 12 pinups who made everybody’s night, but no one was more ecstatic than CC, moi, for seeing the JOY and BEAUTY of us coming together!

This Valentine’s day we are having a great fashion show at our store Le Grand Strip!!
RSVP today and get free kisses from your Le Grand Strip!!
Isn’t the cold so invigorating? For us ladies, the combo “trying to stay warm + sexy” has proved to be a natural resource inducing exercise: our creative NY survival mode is so on, there’s no stopping it! So, besides the looks that are popular at LGS (lots of furs, oversize jackets, layering, blazers with cashmere sweaters and overcoats or capes with a 20% discount right now) our mind are going into overdrive to kill the blues and resuscitate the glory of fun and good times! to that effect, we just decided to throw a vintage fashion show at the store during fashion week; theme: Vintage fashions for hysterical women. Isn’t this so relevant? We know so. We’re booking models right now, and you could be one of them…stay put loves.
One of the HAPPIEST moments in one’s life! Le blog is finally live! Major thanks to Dani Luft, the sexiest catalyst and operator money could NOT get, and to the man that’ll be mine forever, Tim, my baby boy. Maybe it seems that’s everyone is blogging or Twiting like it’s second nature to them, but here at LGS, it’s still old world; we function on the old analogue system, live meetings, sit downs, and sofa talks. So let’s see what this huge step in virtual space is gonna turn-up… Like Hiromi would say:”So scary”.
We welcome your comments.
